StellarNet celebrates St. Patrick’s Day at Brew Bus Brewing by analyzing green beer. David Parrino, Director of OEM Business at StellarNet, uses the new ColorWiz Mobile App for Android and iPhone to analyze the color differences between different beers on tap. He then added green food coloring to see the color change with the BLACK-Comet and SL5-CUV. The data is collected wirelessly using the BLACK-Comet’s WiFi upgrade. The intuitive ColorWiz App displays CIE Lab, EBC, Lovibond, and other colorimetric values.
Slàinte and Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🙂
Beer color is classically measured in degrees Lovibond, EBC, and SRM which are all closely related.
As the beer style increases in malt roast qualities, the spectrum shifts further to the red, absorbing most of the green and all of the blue light. The St. Patrick’s Day green beer uses green food coloring to give it a bright green glow. Don’t be fooled. The green color does not affect the taste!
