Episodic Data Capture

Episodic Data Capture

  • Go to Setup -> Episodic data capture.
  • A window will appear asking for how many episodes to capture (or enter 1 for continuous capture; stopping the capture is defined by user) and press OK.
  • Enter the number of minutes to be delayed between episodes and press OK.
  • Enter the number of milliseconds between episodes and press OK.
  • If 0 is entered for both the minute and the millisecond delay, the software will ask the user to be prompted for each capture. Otherwise, the capture will happen automatically based on the given delay time between the episodes.
  • A window will appear asking to suppress graph display. Select NO to see the updated graph display after each capture. Otherwise, select YES.
  • Enter a file name to save the episodic data set after the capture and press SAVE.
  • A window will be appear asking for confirmation to start capture. Press YES to start capture.
  • The software will automatically stop the capture after the number of episodes entered. If continuous capture was selected, press the Black light bulb icon to stop the capture.
  • After all captures are complete, a notification will be displayed, and the data will be saved to the file.

 


 

Display Entire Episodic Capture Series

  • Open a stored episodic data capture file by going to File -> Open -> File of Type: Episodic Spectra (*.EP*)
  • Press YES to display full spectrum episodic in 3D graph
  • Enter the number of episodes to be skipped, if any (if none enter 0) and press OK
  • Click YES for 3D episodes display


Display Time vs. Wavelength

  • Open a stored episodic data capture file by going to File -> Open -> File of Type: Episodic Spectra (*.EP*)
  • Press NO to display a Wavelength vs. Time series.
  • Select the first wavelength to be looked at.
  • Enter a 2nd wavelength or press 0 to continue.
  • Enter the number of episodes to be skipped, if any (if none enter 0).
  • SpectraWiz will then display the Wavelength vs. time series over the defined episodic capture series.


 

Importing an Episodic data file into Excel

  • Download and install the free software package called “SwDemo.exe” from the StellarNet website (www.stellarnet.us/public/download/SwDemo.exe).
  • Run the program “SwDemoRun.”
  • Go to File -> Convert EP.
  • Select the .ep file to be converted.
  • Enter the number of episodes to be skipped, if any (if none enter 0).
  • The file is automatically converted to an .EPIX file which can be imported into MS Excel.
