We are thrilled to offer several dynamic internship opportunities for motivated individuals to join our innovative team. This internship, centered around analytical chemistry and chemometrics, provides a deep dive into the sophisticated realm of applying mathematical and statistical methods to analyze chemical data. As an intern, you will play an active role in spectrum data collection, model development, and the refinement of analytical models using cutting-edge spectrometry tools, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the practical applications of spectroscopy within the dynamic field of chemistry.

Position Title: Spectroscopy Intern
Internship Duration: 2 Spring 2024 Positions & 2 Fall 2024 Positions Available (Spring through Fall is available)
Location: 14390 Carlson Circle, Tampa, FL 33626

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Preparation: Prepare various types of samples for analysis. Agricultural products, fruits, meats, chemical ingredients, plastics, etc.
  • Spectral Data Collection: Utilize advanced spectrometry tools to collect, analyze, and optimize spectral data from diverse samples.
  • Secondary Sample Analysis: Test the same samples using other known methods such as moisture meters, BRIX, and firmness meters, Use of analytical balance and other techniques will be taught.
  • Data Management: Demonstrate proficiency in efficient data collection and management practices.
  • Model Development: Collaborate with the Research and Development team to construct and refine analytical models, leveraging collected spectral data.
  • Lab Experience: Gain hands-on experience with Spectrometer Analyzers for Quality Inspections, analyzing the composition of solids, liquids, powders, and pellets.
  • Collaboration and Autonomy: Work seamlessly within cross-functional teams, integrating spectrum data into comprehensive analytical models while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and exhibit self-direction in project work.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of experimental procedures and troubleshoot technical issues and final reporting.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for efficient data documentation and reporting.
  • Analytical Skills: Exhibit strong analytical and critical thinking skills essential for dynamic problem-solving in a laboratory setting.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate students majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, agriculture, medicine, biology, and chemical engineering or related fields.
  • Availability for 10-15 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
