The Story: Customized Application Request
As with most StellarNet customers, the customer called in with a set of non-standard requirements. Customers often call in need of a solution that is not listed on our menu. They did just that and our application experts helped them find a perfect customized solution!
We worked directly with the customer and our engineering team to design and manufacture an innovative custom fixture that meets their specific needs. The customer reached out to us after contacting many other manufacturers searching for a solution that would save them time and waste by having to cut their bottles in half in order to test the light that was being transmitted through them.
Prior to contacting us the customer was unable to find any kind of fixture that would allow for this, nor had they come across a manufacturer that was willing to work with them to offer a new solution. Our team was eager to help and willing to think outside of the box to design a unique solution that would solve their problems and meet their needs.
Custom Accessory Solves Applications
Sometimes sample shape, color, or size makes spectroscopy challenging. Samples that are too large often refract too much light or do not fit between standard collimated optics. Dark objects or objects with curvature also present challenges compared to flat samples.
In this case, the customer wanted to measure the optical transmission of cylindrical bottles which they previously had to cut, wasting lots of product. Our team worked with the client to make a customized fixture where all you had to do was put the bottle on the stand, no cutting necessary. It also had an adjustable fiber holder, which allows you to move the light closer or further depending on the bottle.
This makes it extremally easy to measure the optical transmission of any bottle size!
