ChemWiz Series 4 FAQ
Can I plug a USB cable into the ChemWiz’s external USB drive port and connect to a computer?
No, the external USB drive allows you to a access all data that you have saved onto the ChemWiz’s tablet. This includes spectral data, screenshots, PDF reports and more.
Can I use a regular computer running SpectraWiz or any other program with my ChemWiz Series 3 device?
Yes, you can use VirtualHere, a USB-over-IP utility, to access the ChemWiz. You can download VirtualHere Download VirtualHere Win64 or other versions at https://virtualhere.com. Use your regular computer’s WiFi to login to the ChemWiz’s access point and launch VirtualHere. Don’t forget you must install SpectraWiz and related drivers on your computer in order for the computer to recognize the device. You will be able to run SpectraWiz and any customizable Windows program as if you had the device connected directly to your USB port!
Sometimes it takes a minute or so to establish WiFi connection. Is this normal?
The ChemWiz Series 3 consists of an Android tablet and also a spectrometer server (right side power button). The spectrometer server must power up for about 1 minute before spectral data can stream to the Android tablet. The spectrometer server requires minimum power to operate and can be left on during and in between measurements so the system WiFi connection doesn’t have to be continually established.
How can I get the newest version of the ChemWiz Pro Software?
We are continually updating our Pro software options for our handheld systems. Visit the Google Play store for the most recent versions and download and install directly on your ChemWiz device. Go to ChemWiz Pro Version 3.4

ChemWiz for Water Analysis
The ChemWiz absorbance spectrophotometer can be used in many different water analysis applications. From helping to improve environmental protection, analyzing the safety of potable water for consumption, and checking water quality in industrial applications where purity is critical. Chlorophyll, Iron (Fe), Nitrates, Phosphates, and APHA color can provide quantifiable data for precise water quality analysis.
Our ChemWiz handheld spectrophotometers can measure all wavelengths of light from 350-1100nm which allows the use of most chemical reagent-based test kits to help to classify the exact properties of chemical components found in various water sources. Precise absorption measurements help to identify and quantify the levels of these compounds, offering valuable information about water quality.
ChemWiz Applications – Food & Beverage
Chemical absorbance and color play vitally important roles in the world in which we live. Color can sway thinking, change actions, and cause reactions. This is true for humans and animals alike. It can tell us about the chemistry of things and also predict physical properties. Accurate and consistent concentration analysis is extremely important across many fields of research and in a variety of industrial applications. Use the ChemWiz to verify batch-to-batch colors with ease!
ChemWiz Concentration Analysis of Easter Egg Dye
Eggs represent new life, fertility, and rebirth and for these reasons have been absorbed into the springtime Easter celebration. This Easter season, the StellarNet team is unveiling its new handheld spectrophotometer system, the ChemWiz. In this holiday application note, we demonstrate how to quickly make a chemical absorption method of green Easter egg color dye using Beer’s Law and use that same model to predict concentration and provide color consistency of your Easter eggs. Now, all your Easter eggs can be equally vibrant! The ChemWiz can also be used for quality control and field analysis of many liquid and solid samples from food and beverage to water analysis. The system comes with the new magnetic snap-on CUV-HH cuvette holder for chemical absorbance. Additionally, a dip probe can be used for in-situ or large batch measurements. Read our Easter App Note.
Take Control of Color Matching
Launch the ColorWiz App (included free) on your ChemWiz platform to take control of color matching. Using the RGB color swatch you can easily verify the color you are measuring and use the values to choose a perfect color match.
ChemWiz Accessories
The ChemWiz handheld absorbance spectrophotometer can be connected to a DP400-VISNIR transmission dip probe to measure in-situ or large batch samples.
